How do you strum a guitar?

well i'm going to research the chords, but when you play the chords how do you strum the strings, like what pattern. how do you know what it should be and sound like, do you just listen to the song and then try strumming it by ear?

The top and the shorts are great but the bag/shoes/accessories don't match them. You'd want either wedges or any casual shoe with it, TOMS are great. You'd want a casual bag, not a "smart" patent one like that - a canvas material would go well. For accessories, you'd want more wooden bracelets, or a rope-ish necklace. Nothing glitzy. It's a cute casual look, but make sure you keep with that style or it'll look a bit odd. You could try something fun and original, but you've gotta have great style and swag to pull it off or it'll just look terrible. Good luck.

How to dress my cob to show?

I probably would plait him up if he has quite a long mane. As mane's can be distracting and get in the way of your hands in jumping. I'm not sure what class you mean by a pony club class - but if it's hack I would more DEFINITELY plait up. Personally I would do a running plait on his mane, the aim is to keep it tight and a consistant length - it both looks great and holds your pony's main neatly and out of the way. Is your horse more black or brown? That would probably make a decision on clothing as well, I think a black jacket with white jods always looks a lot neater and refined, which would be a good thing if your pony is quite built.

Electric fan not working?

It's probably in the wiring or the motor it self. Good luck trying to figure out the wiring with out instructions. Probably never was instructions about the wiring in the first place. It may also need a new switch. You may be putting more in than getting out cost wise.

How do i get that silent sound on an acoustic guitar?? example linked?

It's called 'muting'. You either use the palm of your pick-hand and lay it against the strings to mute the sound when you strum, or you use your other fingers to lightly touch the strings but not pressing down too hard because that's what makes the sound when you strum. It's kind of hard to explain but you can youtube tutorials of muting as well.

Who can help me adjust my routine to build abs?

so, in one day, i do 240 crunches in total, 4 sets of 30 of those where you put your feet in the air and touch your toes, and another 4 sets of 30 where you do the bicycle crunches. i watch what i eat, no fast food, soda, or candy, and run every other day of the week (10 miles to be exact). I definitely have been working my butt off for abs, for the past 3 weeks, but have seen NO differance in my huge gut. also, i am 18. can i get a helping hand here?

If you have no music or melody for the lyrics, then you have no song really. You can't hire a guitarist to play a song you haven't finished writing if the music doesn't exist. Karoake isn't going to help you either because you can't sing your lyrics along to some random music, you have to write a melody for the words and then musicians can figure out what chords to play. I think you dragged your feet too long, it's too late to perform the lyrics as a song at this late stage. You should either read the lyrics as a poem as part of your toast (IF you were asked to make one), or print them on nice paper and frame the song and give it as his wedding gift.

Fingerpick or Flat Pick?

well, finger picking is my favorite for chords, becuase it is the easiest for me to get alot of speed for fast strumming patterns, and it allows me to do more intricate strum paterns, but its all a matter of opinion, but for electric guitar you HAVE to use a flat pick, so if you are ever going to try doing more melodies and picking i would reccomend using a flat pick

How to stop guitar strings snapping?

If they are snapping at the bridge it most likely means there is a sharp edge that the string is bent over. It may need to be smoothed out. I would have a shop look at it for an opinion.

my 3 year old light cob has just been sent to be backed and broken.she has been ridden for the first time this week properly with all tack on and i went to watch.she stood lovely and square,was easy to mount and well behaved but i noticed when walking she crossed one leg over the other in a plaiting motion.she didnt do it when led only when mounted!her trot and canter were both straight and flowing and lovely but her walk looked bizarre!as i said she didnt do it from the ground only when being ridden.she is 14.2hh and ridden by a lightweight rider.x

The pickup heads and "humbucker" need adjustment. These tend to be a bit hit or miss with a strat. If you're not confident to adjust it yourself, take it to a good music shop.

It's still just an acoustic guitar, only with some type of pickup to connect to an amp. Get any brand of strings for an acoustic guitar.

My guitar has too much tension to play frets?

It's not good if the strings don't budge. Did you tune the guitar? The previous owner (for some odd, unexplained reason) may have tightened the strings. When you play, your fingers should ouch down to the fret board with your fingers as close to the bottom of the fret as possible. Good luck

If you were to audition a bass player for your band...?

You sound like a proficient bassist so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a band. Bass players aren't the easiest thing to find. I've been in many bands and the truth is they are going to hire the best canidate, so it's really impossible to know just how much talent it takes to get any one audition. I do know that when I'm looking for people they have to not only play well, but also be cool to hang out with since band mates have to spend a lot of time together, and they have to be reliable and easy to work with. Those aspects are as important as talent to me.

very hard to read through because it appears as solid block of text. if posting online always use double spacing between paragraphs. much easier to read. not the most books have smaller pages and smaller margins thus can get away without double spacing.

Okay so I'm 5'6 218 pounds which is obese & over weight, i have camp in like a month i have to lose weight so my mom will let me go and for my health , DON'T SAY ITS NOT HEALTHY, AND I'M GONNA GAIN IT BACK, because my Dr. said since I'm obese (70 pounds over weight) i can lose it , I started my diet today and i ate half of a fat free low fat yo plait yogurt and 2 hours later a baby carrots and green tea, I'm not hungry now, actually i feel good not stuffing my face. After school I'm gonna workout at the gym for a hour or two jogging on a treadmill, doing sit ups and a few weight lifts, not much, I'm gonna workout 5X a week and walk for a hour on the weekends. & I'm gonna be in swimming, soccer & tennis so I doubt I'll gain the weight back because I'm gonna be eating healthy and very active. do you guys thank i can lose this 20 pounds? Please help me, I'm 14 1/2 and I get talked about every day because Im fat :( I wanna change that and lose weight so in four months when school starts I'll be a whole new person. Guitar Strumming Question?

Okay so i have been learning to play guitar and i been learning a few songs. I dont think im strumming right and when i watch covers on youtube i see the persons hand just going up and down. Should i be constantly strumming up and down and miss the strings when i need to or should i only strum to hit the notes?

My husband thinks I would be happy if I lost the baby I'm pregnant with?

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with number 2. Our son is only 6 months old. I have to admit when i first found out I was pregnant, I wasn't very happy at all. I had horrible PPD with our son, a horrible delivery and lately our son has been really whiny and just wanting 24/7 attention, to the point where I can't even pee without him screaming. He told me today that he thinks I would be happy if I lost this baby. I take all the precautions your supposed too. I use a rope braid to curl my hair - go onto you tube and search it, there are loads of tutorials an the rope braid is ridiculously easy to do :)

Which Is Better: Crunches or Sit-ups?

Honestly there are so many things more than crunches and sit-ups to help the core. Crunches and sit=ups only help the middle of the stomach. You need to work on the obliques (side-abs) to get an awesome core. Things like going side to side with a medicine ball will help that. Look up some oblique exercises.

put your hair in a ponytail, lift it up against your head, then twist it round a little so that the pony tail is quite thin. then with a fairly big hair clip (an idea of it in the sources) clip the bottom of the ponytail to your head. when you let go, you have a mini-ponytail, and your hair looks much shorter! sorry i haven't exactly explained really well, or have a site to show you how. mostly cos i partly invented this hairstyle, and all i know is that it works really well when i do it! it looks fab too...xx good luck with it! =D

Digitech GNX3000 help please!?

So . . . i have a Digitech GNX3000 Guitar Workstation. it worked fine up until now. When i turn it on, my amp emits a great screeching noise and the USB Active light flashes red. In addition to this, my guitar wont register with it. My biggest dream is to be an actress. I finally had the guts to tell my mom and she completely freaked out on me. I simply told her it's something I've always wanted to try and she even let me look on the computer for opportunities to try it. Finally, after reading some websites, she said I needed therapy. That she wasn't sure who I was anymore. That acting was not my biggest dream. I told her, however, that I just wanted to try it since I'm young and not sure who I'm meant to be yet. She just told me that I live in a bubble, a fantasy world. We eventually both calmed down and both cried a little bit. She told me to try community theater over the summer to see if I am even any good at it. She told me that this career was not the one she had ever planned for me as my mother. I had hoped that if I was good at it to try it at my age now, which is 16. If an opportunity presented itself I would want to take it now, but she told me that either way, I would have to wait until the future. She wants me to focus more on school and college, even though I've always been a straight A student. Is this a normal reaction? Do you think she will ever change her mind if I'm good at it now or will I still have to wait until I graduate college? Thanks for answering!

short layers gives you alot of body. The first layer of short layers usually starts at the middle or even sometimes above your ear . Usually girls that like to tease there hair often have short layers. Long layers just give your hair more of a style and can actually make your hair wavy . Wow... i am soo sorry! That would absolutely suck! Well, to answer your question, no, plaiting doesn't really help! While i was in 4H, I rode this amazing black Canadian/Mustang cross gelding and his mane was WAYY past his shoulders!! I asked the owner how she keeps it this long and untangled and she said she uses Nexxus shampoo and conditioner! Its kind of expensive but it works great!! Also Keeping it braided is a good way to keep it clean and healthy! We used an oil stuff like they use in hair salons after they wash you hair and before they style it. His mane was in great shape and it looked amazing after taking the braids out before a show. We took the braids out at least once a week and brushed his mane and tail, washed them, put the oil stuff on then braided the main and tail and put the tail into a tail bag; and there are little bags for their forelocks as well! You do the same thing with that and put it in a bag. It keeps it healthy and clean! Hope this helps! =D Good Luck!

I suppose your boss hates you but I think he's only getting on you because you are a teenager, plus I think he knows that you are the best employee and he's just being a little rougher on you because he thinks you are the best. I just think he wants to keep your attention and realize that you could be up into his position one day and maybe he feels like you are not paying enough attention to detail. Honestly all that pit up anger shouldn't be there because you should talk to your boss and tell him how you feel and how you feel uncomfortable because you think you are always being singled out and it affects your work. Is it possible to suffer a mild heart attack and not know it?

i felt a strange pain in my chest the other night and it was accompanied by dizziness and cold sweat. after a while i had my wife drive me to the emergency room at the nearest hospital and the nurse checked my blood pressure which was fine and gave me a cardiograph (a machine with wires attached to my chest, gut, arms and legs). the doctor that diagnosed me said the cardiograph was fine and that all was from muscle pain due to my job (sewing machine operator). i still feel chest pains when i lie down and this afternoon i felt numbness in my head and felt dizzy at work. could it have been a heart attack and do i have reason to worry?

The x means you're not meant to play that string, but like you said, it's hard to do that and not touch the strings. The idea is to mute out that sting by lightly touching it (not pressing down hard on the fret board so that you'll get a sound out of it) but try and rest one of your fingers on it and strum. It should be muted out while the rest of the strings are ringing. Hope that helped!

Why is my relationship with my mom so aggressive?

Me and my mom argue all the time. I annoy her and she annoys me. The trouble is though she calls me a stupid cow or something along those lines for no reason. First of all, I think straight across bangs would looks great on you so consider getting that done. Keep it at medium length. It's hard to tell from the angles you're in, but from what I can see in your facial structure, short hair would work against you. I may be wrong because like I said, it's hard to tell from those angles. Don't color it, your hair color is perfect and as you may know, coloring your hair is very damaging and you have beautiful hair.

Okay so i think i eat pretty healthy. I dont go out to eat. I eat eggs and meat. I excercise. I even bought the workout insanity to help me lost all this belly fat. But i just cant lose it. Am I being to rational or am I doing the right thing?

My name is Heather, I'm 25 with two daughters one 6 and the other one 2. My mother has 6 children all together me being the oldest, a 23 yr old sis, and 4 younger siblings ages from 6-13. I payed my mother to watch my children while I work, and on one occasion something happened between my 13 year old brother and my 6 year old daughter. I was confused at first but only because she said it was my 8 yr old brother Tony and not C.J. at first. (C.J.) is my 13 yr old brother. I thought she was doing it for attention so I called my mother just to clarify- and I told her from my gut instinct I believe Tony wouldn't do that that maybe my 6yr old is lying-but just to look into it. My mother of course was furious and stated she never wanted my kids over there ever again....I stopped talking to her after that because she was being ignorant and instead of being an adult about it she said mean and hurtful things about my children. Well, I started to ignore it that maybe it was an attention trip for my 6yr old. But it ate at me. So last night I had a heart to heart talk with her about what had happened- I didn't feed any information to her I just asked her upfront questions- Me: Mina, what happened at grandma's? my 6yr old Mina: "Tony kissed me and wouldn't stop." Me: How? Mina: With his mouth on mine. Me: What else happened? Mina: He used his tounge? Me: why? Mina: He said he was just playing with me and wanted to try something. this was the whole conversation and I again asked her the same questions 10 min. later to verify she wasn't lying and not once did she change her story-this leads me to believe she isn't lying because a 6 yr would change her story if she lies I've seen her do many times before. Me: uploaded a picture of my two brothers and I asked her who did it she pointed to c.j. I said that's not Tony that's C.J. do you know who he is? Mina: yes my uncle. I called my mom to apologize about Tony and that Mina stated it was C.J. and this isn't the first time that C.J. has kissed someone like this. My own mother told me he did it to her, guess out of curiously and she spanked him for it. I was calm and told her before she flies off the handle there is something very important that I needed to talk to her about-I proceeded tell her it wasn't Tony and I knew it wasn't and I'm sorry,and that it was C.J. as soon as I went into detail she hung up on me. So I called her back calmly and said " I'm bringing this to your attention because this is important and DHS could get involved, I just want you to investigate and correct the problem before it gets out of hand. I'm willing to discuss this like adults but if you want to do this the hard way I'm more than happy to get DHS involved. My gut instinct is to call and report it-my little brother has anger issues and has put his other siblings in the hospital for violent attacks-and I don't play around with children being molested I was by my father for 13 yrs and my mother refused to do anything about it because she didn't believe me. My question is, am I being to rational or am I doing the right thing? I honestly believe that I am, by pressing charges-he needs to be taught it's wrong, and if his mother won't do it at then I guess the law will have to. I know how i would feel if it were the other way around, I would be mad but I wouldn't act in that such of manor. The thing is, that my family history has so many files of prison time for the men touching children in inappropriate manors. I'm here to break this cycle. Of course my mother and I are no longer speaking and I'm more than happy to keep it that way if it means the well being of my children. It has angered me to the point where I don't want to be intimate with my boyfriend, and am afraid that this might push him away. He believes my daughter too..but I don't know if it could be the rage that's causing me to be this way or what. I think I've made a really big mistake and I don't know what to do?

My daughter (who's 7) was going to a state school. Her father and I agreed that we thought the state school system was a bit harsh on children ie: the long hours, the uniform, the lack of physical education, the homework etc. She had also had problems with her circle of friend's and had been kind of excluded. So, we looked for alternative route and found a Steiner school, which we placed her into. A few weeks into it, and I'm really disliking it. They told me it wasn't religious, and yet they thank God in prayers. The children in her class are a bunch of middle class anal twats who have no discipline because according to this school "the way you are is great, and you don't need o be changed". And, well, I could go on, but the long and short of it, I'm not happy. There are up sides like, more art, dance, physical education, craft, shorter days and smaller class sizes. But I just have a bad feeling. Is it ok to go on something like "gut instinct' on this one? Or should I stick it out? I feel bad chopping and changing. This new school is very different, so I don't know if I just need to get my head around it. I'm really confused and very unhappy about it. What would you do?

I had my hair stripped from black to gingerish just over a year ago and i have used demi perminant colours ever since and had it highlighted a couple of times. now i am fed up all my friends have gone from dark to blonde so easily without the ginger and i want to go blonde. if i was to bleach my hair again would it fall out! the ends occasionally go straw like if i have left it to frizz or in plaits over night etc. i have about an inch of split ends but my friend has bleached hers about 10 times in a couple of weeks and although it is really thin now it's still there! help

I'm 17.. he's 20. We've been together for about 2 months now. I'm being honest when I say this.. we've had no physical relation accept for kissing.. About the plucking noise when you hold the string you have to hold that string down HARD with the tip of your finger (not your nail). Thats why songs are always talkin about "...played until my fingers bled...."-Summer of 69 song... You will actually get blisters then your fingers will be hard after playing a while. It's worth it :) Youtube offers a lot of instructional vids.

Expecting #2 and husband thinks I want to miscarry on purpose?

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with number 2. Our son is only 6 months old. I have to admit when i first found out I was pregnant, I wasn't very happy at all. Ex boyfriend trouble!?

First of all yes he's on the rebound, because this will take his mind off the pain, so he isn't really that happy underneath it all, it's just a distraction to take him away from how he really feels. Secondly, obviously you'll be upset seeing this if you were with him for 3 years, you shared a lot, you only want him now because you can't have him, if he was single and weeping into his pillow every night I doubt you would have changed your mind about wanting him back. Thirdly, yes he wants nothing to do with you because you broke his heart and any contact with you will remind him of that pain. So yeah this is all pretty standard break up shenanigans, don't worry too much about it, it'll pass. But don't get upset about him apparently moving on and being happy so quickly, he isn't really, just like when people's pet dog dies, some of them go out and buy a new dog straight away to try and fill the void, it's just their way of not dealing with the pain. And because of this sadly instead of dealing with it they repress it down by distracting themselves with a new dog or a new relationship or whatever, and they will carry that pain subconsciously instead of releasing it as it happens.

Why is my relationship with my mom so aggressive?

Me and my mom argue all the time. I annoy her and she annoys me. The trouble is though she calls me a stupid cow or something along those lines for no reason. She says that it is because my behaviour is bad but I have difficulty in 'being normal'. She says I am not normal at all. This is because I have the urge to say the word 'blue' quite often and I feel that it relieves me of a bit of stress but usually she will tell me to shut up and stop being stupid but she doesn't understand that I can't help it. Guitar Playing, damaged ring-finger tip?

It is possible to do nerve damage by practicing too hard or too long, but this is usually spread out over all the fingers and it usually requires practicing more than 4-5 hours a day, for weeks. I suspect that you may be using improper technique and have an instrument that has action that is too high. If the pain and tingling continues than you should definitely consult a doctor. I also recommend that you have your instrument adjusted and consult a teacher so that you can be sure that you are not using an improper technique that may be interfering with your playing. (this is very common in self taught players and often results in poor technique which has to be "unlearned" before the student can progress)

How do you live with the tragic loss of your soulmate?

I met him on a blind date and within 6 months we were married and everything was perfect, until the interference of friends and colleagues jaded our minds with slander and accusations about each other. Even after we discussed the things people were saying, we loved each other more; but that little nagging voice in our minds couldn't forget the what if factors that people created when we were apart. We both fell into an abyss of confusion of the truth of it all and acted on the gossip. We divorced because of pride and naive choices. Through the years neither one of us could let go of our love, but were to stubborn and too proud to re-unite. I found out this year that my one only died 5 years ago at his own hand, I was ready to reconcile and start again when I had made this call to receive such tragic news. Now I am at a loss and do not know how to cope with the reality that the only man who was uniquely made for me is gone and there is nothing I can do to change that reality. I know how he died and I have the gut wrenching knowledge to know I am the only one who could have changed all of these events if I would have come back sooner. The worst part is the ones that came between us surrounded him for the years we were apart and dragged him down to his final demise, not allowing him to see the light of our love. His death hey say was by his own hand but those around him knew of his sadness and one was there when it happened and did not prevent it.

Riding without stirrups?

I'm not exactly sure how this is happening. I do the exact same thing and my reins never get caught in my stirrups. Are you tucking the loop left over underneath the rein between your hand and the bit (sorry i can't think of a better way to say that right now)? The only other thing I can think of is to just take the stirrups off for those ten minutes. It actually makes a big difference (the buckle and stirrups is in your way a lot more than you think) but it is a pain to take them off and put them on....

Should I buy an electric guitar?

I am 16 years of age, I can do most basic chords on an acoustic guitar. I can play G major well, E Major, E7, E minor, A Major, D Major, D7, C major, I can play these chords reasonably well. But I am afraid, I may lose interest and all that money has gone down the crapper, Also, I can strum a song with these chords, but it takes me a while to change. What do you think, the guitar I am going to buy is only 99 pounds, and I guess I can always learn from this electric guitar, but with those chords I have stated I can play, do you think it's worth me getting an electric guitar? I've had a couple of dreams that have felt so realistic like that, it's very rare, but it can happen. The pain in your chest was probably from the stress you felt from adrenaline...I wouldn't worry too much. I know how terrifying those dreams can be, and you might even feel that way for a few days after because they are so powerful, but like I said, just try not to worry about it. Go about your life as normal, and try to keep your mind off of it. If it makes you feel better, just approach things a little more carefully than normal...drive carefully, don't go out alone late at night, etc.

Im a football player and have intense workouts 4 days a week, but i have a pool party coming up and my chest and back are really muscular and toned. But i have a big gut, and love handles dont make me look good and are kind of embarrasing and their really big. Im 5'9 and in the middle of the day im about 206 lbs. but by the end im usually 210. what should i eat? I drink a gallon of water a day, but food usually consists of freezer food since im on summer vacation. I really want to swim without being insecure of my stomach.

I did too and don't understand why. What is it about little girls that sucks them into the equestrian world and then, quite often when they realize that it is not all pretty colours, trotting around and plaiting then they leave? well, i used to get hair wraps all the time when i was little. i never had any trouble with my hair... they just do a thin braid and they use the square knot to tie the string on. they only do it tight enough that it holds in the hair. it shouldn't damage your hair, and they are not that hard to remove! i hope you get them and enjoy them! i know i did!

Advice for a beginner guitarist?

So I just got my first ever guitar (a Fender Acoustic) in the mail yesterday. I played it for 4 1/2 hours straight using online guitar lessons, took a break, then played for about another 2 hours.. Then today, I played for a good 6 hours total. I learned a lot about the basic chords and strumming as well as reading tabs and understanding how to play a basic song. But the problem is, I can't play any songs! It's sooo hard to move from one chord to another fast enough.. I know that this takes time and lots of practice, but I was wondering if maybe anyone had some advice that would help me get past this slump.. It sucks because I feel like I learned so much in one day, and know I'm stuck for who knows how long just to move from one chord to another.. Should I invest in lessons? I really can't afford them right now, but if anyone that's experienced thinks they would help me more than I can myself, then I'll start saving up.. Am I doing something wrong?? Any good free online sites worth checking out? Or maybe some really easy songs I could start to practice (other than the most common ones you'll find by a simple google search)? How do I become anorexic?

Just for a while. I used to be fit and as I started hitting my teen years I got fat. I have a disgusting gut. For a whole year I ate healthy foods (not even 1 chip I ate) and I exercised for 2 hours daily and hardly saw a difference. When I sit down (even with good posture) my stomach pops out way farther than my breasts and sometimes I get "rolls". Please help, I'm desperate to become skinny.

Fingerpicking styles and technique..?

My last two guitar instructors have attempted to show me songs that require finger picking, but were surprised when I did not copy their use of only the thumb and index finger. I taught myself how to finger pick, using all five fingers on the strumming hand. Many tutorials on YouTube also use just the two fingers. Why do most do it this way, while others like myself are more comfortable with using all five fingers? Also, what are the names for both of these styles?

to wave my hair, i french plait it (dry, not wet) and spray with just a little bit of hairspray before i go to bed and when i get up in the morning i take the plaits out, brush my hair to untangle it and then spray it again with a little bit of hairspray and it lasts all day! :)
