Hairstyles to make long hair APPEAR shorter, without cutting?

put your hair in a ponytail, lift it up against your head, then twist it round a little so that the pony tail is quite thin. then with a fairly big hair clip (an idea of it in the sources) clip the bottom of the ponytail to your head. when you let go, you have a mini-ponytail, and your hair looks much shorter! sorry i haven't exactly explained really well, or have a site to show you how. mostly cos i partly invented this hairstyle, and all i know is that it works really well when i do it! it looks fab too...xx good luck with it! =D
